Jonas Salk discovered the Polio vaccine in 1955 after years of research. He refused to patent the vaccine for his personal profit, as he wished to see it disseminated as quickly and as widely as possible – and it worked wonders!

I think that people who stand up and refuse to take part in a broken system are the real heroes of our time. I wish that society would value these people more, as they are accumulating knowledge that is open and available to everyone.
