A sound approach, taking into account what’s good and what’s bad in current systems. I could definitely imagine this as a replacement for the mouse, esp. now that I’ve played with the new MacBook trackpad gestures, which I find really powerful and natural to use.

I’m not sure about the separation of input and output, though: we can work just fine with paper, too, and don’t get distracted by our fingers concealing anything. Also, my favorite pet peeve with any touch technology is, that it’s just not as accurate as a mouse or a pencil or a knife or a toothbrush, etc. We use specialized tools everywhere in life, so why not on a computer. Using Wacom tablets is a start of course, but in my opinion, a new approach to the desktop should definitely integrate   such tools because they influence how we interact with the device. They should not be an add-on. (via @rjs)
